The Nonprofit Net announces a seminar on Wednesday, October 22, 2008 from 1.30 to 3.30 PM at the Meeting Room in Cary Library, 1874 Massachusetts Ave. Lexington, MA. Seminar description Five Effective Ways to Get People to Give You Money People donate because they want to save at least a little part of the world. Your challenge is to show them how your cause and your organization helps achieve their goal (not yours). We'll discuss five key ways to "talk" to donors and prospective donors (they're different). Some are traditional -- like annual reports -- but are usually done wrong. Some have new labels -- like WOM -- but have always been the most effective. Seminar will be conducted by Rick Schwartz. Rick's 35-year career weaves communications with his commitment to nonprofits. He spent half the years with The Rhode Island Foundation, one of the nation's largest community foundations; and the Mass. Council on the Arts and Humanities, a premier state arts agency. In both cases, he was in charge of all communications, was deeply involved with policy setting, and worked directly with grantees. He spent the other years as a journalist, in government (staff director, Mass. Senate Committee on Human Services and Elderly Affairs), and consulting with nonprofits on communications and strategic planning, which he still does, under Rick Schwartz/StraightTalk. More information at www.schwartztalk.com . This event is free and open to all nonprofit organizations and individuals interested in the nonprofit sector. Tea, coffee shall be served. The Nonprofit Net Inc. is a 501(c) (3) nonprofit organization based in Lexington. Its mission is to unite nonprofits with their community and increase their capacity to deliver services. To attend the seminar, please register at www.nonprofitnet.us or contact Narain Bhatia at 781-863-0893. |
